Setting up a proxy in the SocksDroid app

Android device users can use a proxy to access restricted websites, applications, and games. However, default configurations don't support authenticated proxies, which offer greater reliability and security. This issue can be easily resolved using the SocksDroid application.

SocksDroid is a client designed for swiftly setting up a SOCKS proxy on Android devices, and it's available for free. In the following sections, we'll explore how to use a proxy on Android with this application.

Step-by-step proxy configuration in the SocksDroid app

  1. Launch SocksDroid and select “Server IP” from the main menu. Enter your proxy server's address and tap “OK”.

  2. Tap on “Server Port” and input the port number. Confirm by tapping “OK”.

  3. Check the “Username & Password Authentication” box to enable fields for private proxy credentials.

  4. Enter your username and tap “OK”.

  5. Enter your password and confirm it.

  6. In the main menu, toggle the switch at the top of the screen to enable the proxy. All Wi-Fi traffic on your Android smartphone will now be routed through the proxy. To disable it, simply deactivate the toggle switch.

  7. For multiple proxies, tap on the three dots in the main menu and select “Add Profile”.

  8. Set a name for the profile and tap “OK”.

  9. In the main menu, choose “Profile” and select the newly created profile. Repeat steps 1-6 for each profile.

By following these steps, you can configure multiple proxies and switch between them as needed. This will redirect your traffic, allowing you to bypass restrictions and browse the network anonymously.
